August Evening won the Cassavetes Award for Best Film (budget under $500k) at the 2008 Spirit Awards!  Meg Ryan and Tom Wilkinson presented the award to director Chris Eska and producers Jason Wehling and Connie Hill.  Also nominated was first-timer Pedro Castaneda for Best Actor alongside Oscar nominees Philip Seymour Hoffman and Don Cheadle. 

August Evening also won the Target Filmmaker Award in the narrative competition at the Los Angeles Film Festival!  This award comes with a $50,000 unrestricted cash prize and is the largest award of its kind in the nation.

The jury also awarded the Best Ensemble Acting Award to our cast of mostly non-actors and first-timers!  Immediately following the premiere screening, Maya Entertainment picked up the film for theatrical release.
