August Evening recently won the Cassavetes Award for Best Film
(budget under $500k) at the
2008 Spirit Awards! Meg Ryan
and Tom Wilkinson presented the award to director Chris Eska and
producers Jason Wehling and Connie Hill. Also nominated was
first-timer Pedro Castaneda for Best Actor
alongside Oscar nominees Philip Seymour Hoffman and Don Cheadle.

The film was named Best Feature at the Ashland
Independent Film Festival, and Yasu Tanida received the Best
Cinematography Award at the Phoenix Film Festival.

August Evening has picked up its third award after only two
festival competitions, winning the Maverick Award for Best Film at
the
Woodstock Film Festival!

August Evening has won the Target Filmmaker Award in the narrative
competition at the
Los Angeles Film Festival!
This award comes with a $50,000 unrestricted cash prize and is the
largest award of its kind in the nation.
The jury also awarded the Best Ensemble Acting Award to our
cast of mostly non-actors and first-timers! Immediately
following the premiere screening, Maya Entertainment picked up the
film for theatrical release.
The LA Weekly has given August Evening perhaps the best review of
the festival.
